What Is Cupping?
Cupping is an extremely effective and healing therapy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and in other cultures, dating all the way back to ancient Egypt. Cupping uses negative pressure via suction cups to loosen and decompress muscles and fascia, drain excess fluids, pull toxins out of the tissues, and increase blood flow to stagnant areas.
Benefits Of Cupping
· Detoxification - cupping expands the pores of the skin and pulls stagnant toxins, lactic acid, and wastes out of the tissues. This gives the lymphatic and circulatory systems easier access to these wastes so that they can be flushed out more efficiently. Some wastes are also excreted through the pores.
· Myofascial decompression – cupping loosens and decompresses tight and rigid muscles, fascia, and connective tissue way more effectively than regular massage does. The relief from pain and muscle tightness is more profound with cupping than with regular massage and the results last longer.
· Improves circulation – cupping reinvigorates stagnant areas by bringing fresh, revitalized blood to these areas.
· Improves the lymphatic system – cupping improves the circulation of the lymphatic system, which helps the body get rid of wastes and defend against infection.
· Healing – cupping can help pain and chronic issues resolve with multiple treatments
Does Cupping Hurt?
No, cupping does not have to hurt. The amount of suction can be adjusted to your comfort level.
Will I Get Bruises?
You will get cupping marks, but they are not bruises. There are no broken capillaries or trauma to the tissues, like with bruising. Cupping marks are just a result of the suction bringing blood up to the surface. The marks can take anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks to go away.
